Intense Pulsed Light
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is a gentle yet effective way to rejuvenate your skin with little to no downtime. During the treatment, pulses of light penetrate the skin, stimulating the production of new collagen. In addition, this heat energy targets and eliminates many of the tiny blood vessels that cause redness, and the excess pigment that causes brown spots. IPL is an excellent solution for:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Sun damage & hyperpigmentation
- Redness from acne and rosacea
- Broken capillaries or facial veins
IPL treatments can be performed on the face, hands, décolleté and shoulders, leaving skin smoother, more even in coloration and tone, and younger looking.
YOUR Intense Pulsed Light PROCEDURE
You may choose to have a numbing cream applied prior to your procedure to enhance comfort. During the 30 minute treatment, pulses of photo-thermal energy are delivered to the desired area. These pulses cause a sensation that most patients compare to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Most patients will undergo a series of 3 to 5 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.
Immediately following the procedure, there may be redness and swelling that resembles a mild sunburn. This typically goes away in a matter of hours, and shouldn’t interfere with your regular activities. You will be given specific instructions for your aftercare, including sun protection and the appropriate skin care products. Improvements will emerge over the course of several weeks, and follow-up treatments may be recommended for optimal results.
